Three Ways to Adopt

What does it mean to Adopt-a-Hive?
SUPPORT THE BEES. SHARE THE SWEETNESS OF LIFE. GET HONEY MONTHLY.

When you adopt a hive, you’re directly supporting a bee colony that was given a second chance of life - on our working farm. You’ll help cover the costs of maintaining healthy, happy bees—like hive maintenance and seasonal care. In return, you get a behind-the-scenes look at life in the hive and some sweet rewards too.

Why Adopt?
  • Take part in the old traditions of "telling the bees." (See article below)
  • Support healthy pollination of Texas fruits, veggies, and flowers.
  • Protect an essential part of our ecosystem.
  • Give a Meaningful Gift for birthdays, memorials, weddings, holidays, or anyone who loves bees, nature, or the slow life.
  • Feel Connected to the land, the seasons, and the rhythms of nature—without having to wear a bee suit (unless you want to!).
  • You get some honey and other sweet treats throughout the year.

Meet the Rescue Bees
Our first three rescue colonies each have a story as sweet as the honey itself.

Dog House Bees
These resilient girls made a home in an old dog house before we relocated them to a proper hive. They’re proof that bees can turn any space into a sanctuary.

Tin Barrel Bees
Found thriving inside an old metal barrel, this colony surprised us with its tenacity. Now, they enjoy the fresh air and scenic flowers of their new home.

Lake Bees
This colony produces some of our lightest, most floral honey. They were Heaven-sent from another beekeeper to use as a combination in a colony that had been severely damaged due to chemicals.
What is Bee Rescue?

When bees swarm, sometimes they pick unusual homes. It's our job to keep home and business owners safe by rehoming colonies that are in unwanted areas. Here's how we rescue, relocate, and rehabilitate bee colonies, giving them a chance to thrive and contribute to the environment. We have been members in good standing with the Texas Association for Professional Bee Removers since 2024.
Initial Contact
We assess the situation and determine a removal strategy.
Safe Removal
We carefully remove the hive with the support of other beekeeper volunteers, ensuring the safety of the bees and homeowners.
Transportation
The hive is transported to our apiary, minimizing stress for the bees as best as possible.
Rehabilitation
The bees are given time to adjust to their new environment and rebuild their hive. Sometimes we support their orientation with feed.
Honey Production
The bees begin to produce honey and wax, which is harvested responsibly and sustainably and shared with the adopt-a-hive members.
Education
We share the love of bees by filming content about each colony that is re-homed in our bee sanctuary and share updates with adopt-a-hive members.

Telling the Bees
Take part in an old tradition of witnessing life's milestones when you adopt a hive.
"In the old ways, when a death or great change came to the household, the bees were told—because they are part of the family too. To not tell them was to risk losing the hive. It was a sign of respect, remembrance, and a bridge between worlds."
In the tradition of telling the bees, families would whisper news of births, weddings, or losses to their hives—honoring the bees as sacred witnesses to life’s milestones. We continue this beautiful ritual by inviting our Adopt-a-Hive supporters to share messages, memories, celebrations, or dedications with us. Whether you're celebrating a new chapter or honoring the life of someone you love, we’ll pass your message along to the bees during our seasonal blessings. Adopting a hive in memory of a loved one is a meaningful way to keep their spirit alive in nature’s rhythm—among the wildflowers, under the sun, and in the hum of a working hive.
Please "tell the bees" I am supporting them, and therefore life itself.
“[Name] has adopted this hive to remind themself that small things matter. They see you, they honor you, and they are rooting for your thriving.”
Please "tell the bees"
I want to do this as a memorial.
“It is with a heavy heart we share that [Name] has passed from this world to the next. May their spirit live on in the wildflowers you visit, in the honey you make, and in the peace you bring. Please carry their memory on your wings.”
Please "tell the bees" I want to do this as a wedding gift.
“There is a joyful union to celebrate! [Name] and [Name] have been joined in marriage. May their life together be as sweet and strong as your honeycomb.”
Do you have bees that you'd like us to re-home?
Please email photos and videos of the bees, along with the address so we can assess the situation to Tiff@TiffanyHarelik.com.
